Statement from Ambassador Mark B. Childress on Decision by Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) Board to Suspend Tanzania’s Compact Eligibility

The Board of the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) met on March 28, 2016, and voted to suspend development of a second compact with the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania.

I fully support the Board’s decision to suspend development of a second compact.

The United States and Tanzania have long-standing and deep relationships across many sectors.  As Tanzania’s largest bilateral development partner, we will continue our work together to improve health and education, promote economic growth, and advance security.
