On 18 January 2017, the U.S. Government-funded Henry Jackson Foundation Medical Research International (HJFMRI) launched the HIV Pediatric text messaging platform to improve identification, linkage, and retention of HIV–infected children in care and treatment.

Supported through the U.S. Department of Defense, Walter Reed Army Institute of Research (DOD-WRAIR), the free messaging platform will promote improved detection and treatment of children living with HIV/AIDS.

The DOD-WRAIR partner, HJFMRI, implements HIV/AIDS prevention, care and treatment interventions in Mbeya, Rukwa, Ruvuma, Katavi and Songwe regions, and is partnering with mHealth Tanzania Partnership under the leadership of the Tanzanian Ministry of Health.
