U.S. Embassy Empowers Mwanza Women with Entrepreneurship Skills.

On July 19, the U.S. Embassy launched the Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) in Mwanza, a White House-led Women’s Global Development and Prosperity Initiative to support women entrepreneurs around the world. Thirty Tanzanian women will participate in the 13 weeks of online training facilitated by U.S. Government exchange program alumni and project partner, SELFINA. The Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE) in Mwanza is the fourth session of this program in Tanzania, other regions that have received this training include Dar es Salaam, Iringa and Zanzibar. The program’s goals are to empower women with the skills and opportunities to succeed as business owners and it is taking place at the St. Augustine University.

The launching of this event was officiated by the U.S. Embassy Deputy Public Affairs Officer, Ms. AmyLyn Raynolds and the Member of Parliament of Nyamagana Constituency, Hon. Stanslaus Mabula.
