On June 10, the U.S. Embassy launched the Academy for Women Entrepreneurs (AWE), a White House-led Women’s Global Development and Prosperity Initiative to support women entrepreneurs around the world.

Twenty Tanzanian women will participate in the 13 weeks of online training facilitated by U.S. Government exchange program alumni and project partner, SELFINA. Most of the participants are engaged in small businesses like growing vegetables in greenhouses and small farms, fish farming, agro processing, cake making and some have business ideas. Participants will be equipped with the practical skills needed to create sustainable businesses and enterprises and at the end of the program they will be integrated into SELFINA’s micro-leasing program.
