Senior officials from the United States Department of Defense visited Tanzania for two days of collaborating and planning with counterparts from the Tanzanian People Defense Force aimed at developing a Security Cooperation plan for the coming years. Over 50 US and Tanzanian military officers and civilians participated in the Country Coordination Meeting Jan. 18-19, with each side working together to identify areas of cooperation in the air, land and sea domains. This event culminated in the signing of a Bilateral Cooperation Action Plan by the senior representatives of the United States and Tanzania. Brigadier General Peter Bailey from the United States Africa Command was the senior officer responsible for the Americans matched with Brigadier General TA Ntahena, the Commandant of the Tanzanian People’s Defense Forces Intelligence College.
